Living History Farms Race
This weekend my parents and my sister came up to run in the Living History Farms Race with me. It is a 7 and a half mile cross country course. We left the hotel on time but apparently at the same time as everyone else. So we sat on the interstate forever and finally we had to run the remaining mile and a half to the race or we would be late. So we did a warm-up on the interstate. My mom was already complaining about the warm-up. So funny. There is a cap of 7500 people for this race. We placed ourselves in the back. I was determined to see my mom's reactions to this race. It took about 15min to just make it to the start line. Then for the first couple miles you are so crowded. Then you come to a tunnel and you just stop. This race has a lot of stop and go time. We ran through some corn fields and some forest trails. The best parts were the rivers. You have to go through quite a few rivers and climb the banks on the other side. It becomes so muddy by the time thousands of people before you have gone. At one point I lost my shoe in the mud and had to dig it out. I was covered in mud by the end of the race. The race was so worth it though. My mom's reactions were priceless. I think that was the best part.
